While I’ve recently embraced Sunday roast as a relatively low-spoons mode of cookery, I’m not that surprised by the indoor air-pollution claim* – I can smell the smoke in my hair from taking it out of the oven for a day afterward (it probably doesn’t help that I don’t clean my oven very often). On the other hand, I suspect in the long run, breathing a bit of meat-smoke every week or two is not going to impact anyone’s health as badly as smog that’s in the air daily.

*IIRC this kind of thing also comes up any time someone autopsies a mummy or other ancient corpse – they may have been from an era without cars or cigarettes, but a lifetime of using fires to heat their homes and cook their food usually means they’ve got lungs like a chainsmoker.

Nobody actually looks like Barbie.

I thought the point of the article was representation and dolls that looked like as many different people as possible and could therefore be related to. Barbie represents a ridiculous ideal that no girl or woman can ever live up to. The whole franchise should have been gotten rid of ages ago.

she said in the article "where were the dolls that looked like me?". Well, I've never seen a doll that looked like me either, and I'm not in a wheelchair.
