Protests planned against Trump's national emergency over the border wall

It's a bit miserable out there for a protest, but if I go early to the one at Union Square I can hit up the bookstore and also get some groceries. (Or is it more appropriate to do my shopping after?)

I think it would be easier -- you don't have to carry all the groceries and books at the protest.

This is what I was going to say. If you just want to stop for a package of cough medicine or a box of tea, before would be reasonable; books+groceries are likely to be bulky as well as heavy.

Plus if the authorities (or counter protesters) turn it into a near riot, you don't want to have stuff that can get lost or damaged easily.

But if they don't then things get boring and you'll want something to read.

There's something incredibly depressing about the idea of a protest becoming so mundane and usual that you're, like, working it into your errands for the day. Good on you for multi-tasking though!

Mmm, going out to Union Square is long and tedious.

As it happens, I didn't make it out at all because the weather was miserable cold, but I did make a few phone calls and send some emails.

It's just cold out omg. (As I've reflected before, if the raid had happened in January, the Stonewall Riots would never have followed. In cold weather, nobody has the energy.)
