Played Suspicion

My mother likes it because it's a lot like Clue except it isn't (and the components are very nice). However, just like Clue there's an awful lot of downtime while everybody else maximizes their guesses and rolls. It's just - guys, we maximize the game when we spend less than six minutes per turn. I swear, next time I'm breaking out an egg timer. We never use the one from Boggle.

Have you ever seen Cheapass Games' Kill Doctor Lucky? It's the step before Clue, where everyone HATES Doctor Lucky and wants to kill him, but they have to do it where no one else can see him, so they're trying to lure him in to an area where no one else has line of site.

There are several variations, including Save Doctor Lucky set on the Titanic - can't let him drown there because you need to kill him nice and proper at your own time and place!

They actually do live action KDRs at the big game conventions and they are reportedly amazingly awesome. Your mom might get a kick out of it.

Currently popular with TBD is Outfoxed, which has is a simpler logic chain than Clue but has the benefit of being collaborative: Did WE figure out which fox stole the pie?
