Watching Discovery 1 x 6

1. Tilly is adorable and she's finally doing something other than being a living cuddly toy for Michael! Let's see how long that lasts.

2. A truly intelligent AI would keep its mouth shut about your food choices. Also, did replicators exist pre-TOS?

3. I know damn well holosuites didn't.

4. For this training exercise to be really productive, the dead Klingons ought to stay dead. They just did that so we'd be all "Oh, yes, the holodeck!" about it.

5. I do not believe that this training exercise was at the correct difficulty level. No, sorry, two humans cannot take down a ship full of Klingon warriors howling for blood.

6. Looks like the Captain heard our crazy fan theory too! Good for him, vetting this guy a tiny bit!

7. Wow, Sarek was really a crappy dad. And a sub-par husband, to boot. This, at least, is consistent with Prime Universe Canon as I understand it. Too bad. I guess the Temporal Cold War didn't have time to fix anybody's unhappy childhood : (

8. Vulcan. Logic. Extremists. Uh-huh.

9. Well, then again, the Vulcans have always had a very particular take on logic, not to mention emotional control. I think they're well and truly blinded to their actual motivations sometimes. (Also, more people need to talk to Quark for his opinion on War vs. Peace.)

10. That engineer! Is he happy, or is he high? Hard to say, but it's great! He should always be this way! No more moping!

11. Is Tilly the only cadet on the ship?

12. Seriously, Sarek is a crappy dad, on so many levels. You're not supposed to admit that your kid is a science project, and you are supposed to tell them when it's your society that failed them, not the other way around!

13. Good point. People with potential PTSD probably shouldn't be thrown right back into a war zone. Not that this has ever stopped the Federation before....

14. Oh, good. Sarek, you admitted your failure. Ought to have done it years ago. Jerk. (Well, you admitted half of your failure. Obsessing with making Michael a logical Vulcan was also a problem. And maybe you could've asked your wife's advice?)

15. The fact that Sarek had to make a choice was inherently illogical. But like I said above, Vulcans don't quite act as logically as they claim. Maybe it's a translation issue.

16. That is the fakest fake green blood ever. OMG. It looks like food coloring.

17. Man, that captain is a super manipulative bastard. Skeevy, skeevy - and he knows damn well that Michael has no defense against emotional manipulation.

18. OMG SAREK YOU ARE A TERRIBLE FATHER!!!

19. You learned something, Michael!

20. Shut up, replicator. Nobody asked you for your opinion.

21. No surprise that it's a trap.

22. Wow, Captain, you are such a jerk.

23. OOOH A TIME LOOP EP! I LOVE TIME LOOP EPS!

22. Wow, Captain, you are such a jerk.

23. OOOH A TIME LOOP EP! I LOVE TIME LOOP EPS!

22. Wow, Captain, you are such a jerk.

23. OOOH A TIME LOOP EP! I LOVE TIME LOOP EPS!

22. Wow, Captain, you are such a jerk.

23. OOOH A TIME LOOP EP! I LOVE TIME LOOP EPS!

23. OOOH A TIME LOOP EP! I LOVE TIME LOOP EPS!

I was screaming, "STFU OVERLY CHATTY REPLICATOR, YOU DON'T KNOW ME" at the TV.

Vulcan logic extremists—I sort of picture them like New Atheists or maybe Not Wrong types. Yeah, that's exactly it. It's a kind of logic that's not.

They are exactly like new atheist rationalist less wrong types - the sad thing is all those groups admire Vulcan and want to emulate them.

We were trying to figure out if it's officially supposed to be between "Enterprise" and "TOS" or "TOS" and "ST:TNG"....

Or is this supposed to be an alternative timeline?

And Captain Pike was on that list of Starfleet's top captains, but Kirk wasn't, which tells us something, maybe?

16. That is the fakest fake green blood ever. OMG. It looks like food coloring.

THANK YOU. I pointed this out to my husband, and he was like "It's the filter on the light," and I was like "Nooooo, it's that they used ACTUAL GREEN PAINT." Blood doesn't... it isn't... that's just bad fake blood.

17. Man, that captain is a super manipulative bastard. Skeevy, skeevy - and he knows damn well that Michael has no defense against emotional manipulation.

Everybody keeps using this against Michael, especially Lorca, and it makes me sad. I (still, forever) want Georgiou back.

Chatty replicator is from a time after the invention of replicators but before the idea that people's food choices are none of your business!

Your points from 23. onward made me laugh.

In the original series they had "food synthesizers", but mostly what came out was unappetizing colored blocks. The animated series had a "Recreation Room" which was essentially like a holodeck. Neither of these really justify what you see on "Discovery" though.
