Back in the late 80's, if you asked nicely (or your dad knew the right folks to ask, and you got to tag along), you could get a ride on a one-car train to all the abandoned stations. There was this AMAZING mural of a desert scene in one; camels, pyramids, all done with spray paint (someone later tagged over the entire thing, the idiot); another looked like it was right out of Alice in Wonderland.

And my folks wonder why little city-child me likes spelunking...!
