Parthenogenesis has never been 'rare' in non-mammalian species. Yeah, unfertilised eggs sometimes hatch anyway - turkeys, snakes, frogs, lizards - and the hatchlings can live to grow up. This wasn't news even half a century ago when I was a girl.

When we see any documented evidence for a virgin mammalian birth, that will be rare and newsworthy. I don't expect to ever see it.
