Irony is not the same as hypocrisy, people.

We all know, or should know, that a fly in our drink is not ironic, it is merely unfortunate. Some people, however, are not aware that insulting "psycho Christians" (their words) for, among other things, calling random people "fags and queer" is ALSO not ironic. It is hypocritical.

Ironic, ladies and gentlemen, is when you sell your watch to buy a hair comb for your friend, while they are selling their hair to buy you a watch chain. (That's also sad, but this is beside the point). Ironic is when you kidnap a boy for ransom, and then he's so horrible that you have to pay his father to take him back.

Irony is NOT misfortune. It's NOT hypocrisy. It's not even coincidence. Irony is defined here, and you can look it up for yourself. Me = lazy.

I've read both of those stories. (Well, all right, I'm not definitely sure about the first, but I've definitely seen the Sesame Street sendup.) Love it when I catch references like that.

I dunno. I guess I can see the irony of a black fly in one's white wine, although it's not what I would call irony.

There's actually only one thing in that song that's ironic.

Rain on your wedding day.

In one realm, it's merely unfortunate, however, a lot of nationalities consider it to be a sign of good luck.

So rain on your wedding being good luck..ironic.

Hadn't thought about the rain/wedding day thing (even though I spread the 'no, really, it's good luck!). I always said it was the guy in the about-to-crash plane saying "Well. Isn't this nice."

I thought that was just sarcastic. Unless I'm misunderstanding and he thinks it is nice.

You should know

No no, I didn't write those terrible things. I too had people write stuff on here about me, so I thought others should know as well.

What's hypocritical about insulting religious zealots? I really, really hope you're not one of those people who believes that insulting any beliefs system is WRONG and that the word "fundie" is offensive.
