Two things.
First of all, somebody posted asking about sci-fi books with Jewish protagonists a while back, and either I got this one from the ensuing list or it should be added to it: Starglass, by Phoebe North.
Decently readable, with Jews and a side dish of gay angst on a generational ship fleeing asteroid impacts on earth. Also, there's a revolution and so on.
And secondly, a day after I finish this, somebody over on Love, Joy, Feminism wants some read aloud books for her family that are as good as the ones she read as a kid, but without icky race issues or sexism, and preferably some with non-white main characters. And she's not the only one, scroll down the thread a bit. I had typed up a reply, but then Disqus ate it.
If anybody has any suggestions or, better yet, any pre-compiled book lists (why reinvent the wheel?), do me a favor and post them here or there? You can comment anonymously over there, you don't need a Disqus account.
