Listen to me. Online petitions are largely disregarded by the same people they wish to influence. If you are going to push the online petition on me, at least give me a way of contacting the appropriate person individually, since that has a greater chance of making an impact. Honestly, I may want to help, but if I think I'm wasting my time, I won't bother.

Yes, one of my pet peeves is to see a post or something outlining concerns the poster has, something they go on and on about, something that sounds really important or something you could get behind, and then they finish it up with "if you feel the same, please sign my online petition!!" Yargh.

And every time you have to patiently explain that you'd rather just contact the appropriate party directly.

Or, god, petitions to be sent to Fred Phelps. Right. Like he cares about your petition telling him to respect the dead. He's not going to listen!
