Last I read, synchronized menstruation was a myth. The initial study did make it look like it happened, but it was an anomalous result. Women don't have menstrual cycles of the same length, so you'll get synching and desynching as their periods get closer then further apart. They happened to get more synching in that study, and it did look like it existed, but more studies showed it doesn't actually generally happen that way.
Unless still further research has changed that. But I simply don't trust things that tell me women's cycles tend to synch up.
