This report is coming to you, live, from...
Well, my basement.
Ana was very excited, she got to see real live firefighters. Well, Elise was excited, anyway - Ana took it all in stride.
See, the shower upstairs wasn't completely finished... so when it was used, water just trickled through the ceiling and down the wall on the second floor... into the bathroom on the first floor... into the *basement*, and from there, no doubt, into China.
And it messed with the wiring everywhere, and there was smoke in the first floor bathroom, and there were sparks, and we flipped *almost* all the circuits (leaving the ones for the front porch, the back hall, and the basement) and called the fire department.
And they came, and pronounced us fine - but said we should call an electrician to check out the wiring. They also said that since they can't isolate the circuits that control the wiring in the first and second floor bathrooms from the ones that control the rest of the house, because it's all really badly labled, that we shouldn't turn on any of the power. Flipping the switches and seeing what happens might work, but it also might start a real problem and we'd all DIE.
Of course, my internet cable is really, really *really* long, so I tossed it out the window, plugged everything in, and set up bed down here like I used to as a kid. Plus, I'm the designated alarm clock, since apparently I wake up prior to anybody else. Who knew?
(Well, it was either this or "just go to bed", and since Elise's room is right across from the ill-fated bathroom, she refuses to sleep in there. So she's appropriated my bed, and while two *can* fit, I like to sleep on my own... uh... floor.)

I heard Ana was keeping *Elise* calm...gave me a big smile. I'm really glad that everyone kept their cool in a scary situation (and of course, that everything is OK!!!)
