Ah. Gay marriage. The subject the fundies get all worked up about. And before anybody tells me that I "can't take one part of the bible and ignore the rest", let me introduce you to Mr. Kettle and the concept of keeping kosher. Already keep kosher? Um. Good for you. I'll have more snide comments in a minute.

Heheh, yeah. Jesus never said anything about homosexuals, and since Christianity is based on Jesus's teachings... well, you know. The only religious group who has any valid argument would be Orthodox Jews.

(And yes I keep kosher... um... mostly ^_^)

Even the ultra-Orthodox don't follow every rule exactly though. Well. I'm sure some do, but most don't, or else we'd hear a lot more about stonings and such.

Just to be fair in MY bias, I'm completely agnostic with atheist leanings.

As for whether or not Jesus said anything about homosexuality, there's some theories that the original, complete version of Mark included a homosexual encounter, in what may have been a positive light. Of course, quite a lot of early Christian (and Jewish) texts never made it into the Bible, so....

If it's in the interests of loving and respecting everyone to the best of my ability and in accordance to me respect of the 10 commandments and Christ's teachings, WHY would I be upset about this as a (generally classed) Christian??

If two women or two men (or transgenders even) love each other and aren't hurting anyone in the process...then WHAT pray tell is wrong with it?

Well, I think most Christians believe that Paul's letters explain that keeping kosher is no longer necessary... I couldn't tell you why, though...

But by that reasoning, all those old laws should've been swept away. Well, actually, they discussed getting rid of the jewish texts altogether, but they didn't and many of them survive in the modern day bible.
