Ana is a very strange child sometimes....

We saw a squirrel on our way to the SICM today, while crossing the street....

Ana: Look, Connie, a SQUIRREL!
Me: Yup, that's a squirrel all right.
Ana: I can say squirrel with my fingers! See?
Me: No, you're holding my-
Ana: SEE! SQUIRREL! (is pulling my hand to show me)
Me: Yeah! Squirrel!
Ana: It's like a pineapple!
Me: Uh... it's like a pineapple?!? (We've now finished crossing the street)
Ana: (pulling away and running ahead) SQUIRRELS. ARE. LIKE. PINEAPPLES. CONNIE!

Okay....

I haven't taught Ana a sign for pineapple, and even if I had it's apparently completely different so I have NO IDEA what the heck she was talking about.

She's just weird.

on a mostly unrelated subject:

In ninth grade, we sang "I've got a gal in Kalamazoo" in choir. the
arrangement we were singing started out with the lines "Hey there,
Tex. How's your new romance? The one you met at the campus dance. |
wait until you see her, you'll agree: my home town girl's the only one
for me"

Rather than singing this, my friend Zach Kenne and I sang "Hey there
Tex how's your new romance? I've got a squirrel down in my pants. Wait
until you see her, you'll agree: My home town squirrel's the only one
for me."
