Just read the last book in the Series of Unfortunate Events...

And, I have to say, I'm not surprised at the ending. I was for a little bit, but then... not so much. I mean, nothing much happened in the ending, but what could have happened? A very happy ending would have rung false, and an unhappy ending would have been too much. This fading away, it's vaguely unsatisfying, so it seems right in a way a more definitive ending wouldn't've.

And that's my incredibly brief review of the end of The End.

(The sequence about being "in the dark", by the way, is worth the cost of the book in and of itself.)

And it's almost November, which means it's almost time for that new Hilari Bell book nobody's ever read the series of to come out!

I'm going to take you up on it and read some Hilari Bell. But now you have to recommend me a specific title!

A Matter of Profit

Gvaah, this has to be the first English-language SF book (save for some of [livejournal.com profile] ozarque's titles) that I couldn't locate immediately online.

Well, either the local bookstore has it or it doesn't. *sigh!* I thought I'd be able to read it in class... so much for that :[
