Why Ana is not, under any circumstances, allowed to walk up slides

(At least with me.)

1. Okay, ew. Footprints on the slide. I didn't like that when I was a kid, and I don't like that now, and it's rude.
2. It's dangerous. Kids are always going down without looking anyway, if you're walking up, sooner or later you'll get kicked in the face. Now, I'm sure some people would find this funny, but those who would aren't the ones getting kicked.
3. Did I mention it's rude? It's a complete violation of the social norms of turn-taking. Here you have little kids waiting patiently at the top for their turns, and they can't because of some kids going up the slide the wrong way.

Now, I understand why kids go up the slide the wrong way - they think it's fun. No worries, I can tell them to let the kid at top (especially if it's Ana) take their turn. No big deal.

But what is up with adults who encourage their kids to do this? Seriously, why would you do that? Especially when we're talking a baby or young toddler, when the playground is crowded. You and your little baby do not have the right to ruin it for everybody else. Plus, little baby/careless kids up at top (none of whom bother to look if not reminded)... I don't know, that sounds like the little kid is going to get squashed sooner rather than later. Maybe it's just me.

Maybe.

(Oh, and on that note? If you're a 10 - 13 year old kid, please. Find a big kid playground to walk up the slides on, don't do it in the playground designed for five year olds. I know there's not much for you to do here, it's embarrassing that you're stuck here at all instead of being able to go off on your own, but all you managed to accomplish is getting yelled at by both your mom and me. And I, for one, didn't appreciate the massive sigh and dramatic eyerolling. It's childish in kids half your age.)

Not touching the footprints thing 'cause I've never seen 'em. Unless it's muddy, in which case, ew.

That said, I did it all the time as a kid. However, I did it when I was the only one there (aside from any friends I was there with and/or guardian.) Because really, that's only time one would have the luxury of doing whatever they please (or should.)

Best fun I ever had was climbing up a circular, enclosed one. The fun in that was the challenge of doing it, without railings to hold onto or anything to stop you from winding up back where you came from. It was a nice, fun exercise in creativity and skill and figuring out how to defy gravity.

I miss those days.

I am okay with going up the wrong way but ONLY is the playground is not crowded (i.e., no one else is playing on the slide, or at least not waiting to do down.)

And as I recall, you did some slide climbing on your day... :-p
