The baby's hit her shy stage.
She'll meet somebody new, smile at them for a second, and then burrow her face into my chest.
Y'know, prior to experiencing this, I'd completely underestimated how endearing it is. And it really is cute. It's not so cute, though, that I want random strangers trying to draw her out of her shell, causing her to be even *more* shy!
She also does this thing now where, before doing something, she glances back at us, presumably to see our reaction. It actually reminds me strikingly of Seth at that age. Not Ana, for some reason - just Seth.
And Ana's definitely doing a growth spurt. Gobbling up food like it's going out of style, napping (!) for ages if she can without it keeping her up at night, being cranky and clingy and...
It's not pleasant. Possibly moreso for her than for me, but for me it's damned unpleasant enough.
We're theoretically heading to the Met this weekend. I love that place. We play a very simple version of I Spy, wherein we try to find houses, or birds, or whatever in the paintings. And we run around. (And we spoil our neices rotten by buying them kaleidoscopes that we really want for ourselves, but I try not to talk about that.)
The concert went... well...
Given that it was a new thing for her (and she tends to react badly to those at first, needing one or two sessions of the new thing to really warm up), and she was growthspurting (does this really last months????)...
It went quite well.
Yes. Given those qualifications, it went quite well indeed.
I may well buy the CD - despite being cranky, Ana enjoyed the concert enough to recount the "Frog in my Throat" song to her mom.
