buttons, hair, nuts, string, tulle (but I don't know a cheap easy way to get it or if I'm spelling it properly... that stuff they sometimes put under dresses to puff them up a bit, I think), toilet paper or tissues

Tissues - that's good, and buttons. As for tulle, that's easy - buy a child's or doll's tutu.

Q and quarters works nicely, I hadn't thought of that.

Pepper for P? I'll think more on this.
What about textures? rough for r, smooth for s, etc.

J ... jelly beans
L ... lipstick? lock
N ... nut, nickel
P ... penny
S ... plastic snake, slinky
Some things like the lambs wool, quilt scraps, etc, you'd be having to explain to her that it's a METROcard and not just a card/paper. And she'll probably say sunglasses and not glasses if they're tinted.

And she doesn't yet know the difference between sunglass and glasses. I mean, she does, but last time she had sunglasses we just called them "glasses". I think we were sick of her stealing ours. Kinda need them to see, y'know :) (Honestly, it's enough to make me wish she'd be nearsighted. She'd be delighted.)
So those are pretty safe from non-confusion.
Lock, now, that's a good one. Lipstick... if I could get pretend lipstick, that'd rock. Ana'd be able to pretend to put some on her, without us having to oblige her all the time with chapstick and lip gloss.
Thankies!
