Extreme eating disorders often cover other issues, such as having been abused. I prefer sympathy. Having an eating disorder doesn't mean the person is stupid - it means the person has a bad coping mechanism. Biut it's still a coping mechanism.

I don't believe in banning such sites though. I think it's important for people to have social support, and if that's the only social support they can get, it's likely better than nothing. Plus, if they're visiting the sites, they're leaving traces. If people really care about them, the more open they are, the more likely they are to be given help.
