I don't know if Lena was exactly dumbed down, but clearly she fell for the whole emotional "We're alike because we're both estranged from those who ought to be our loved ones!!!" line.

Which, um. Lena? You and Mon-El have a lot in common, starting with your narcissistic moms. That line made *me* wince, and I don't even have one of those! How did you not pick up on this? You see through your own mother, right?

But I think we're supposed to think that this is Lena wanting motherly love and affection from somewhere. What Lena wants is sad. What she needs is therapy, and I really wish Supergirl would finally address this and show an episode where literally everybody goes to a shrink.

AND YES. SHE COULD'VE GONE TO MAXWELL LORD. I MISS HIM. I mean, I like Lena more, especially since I like shows with female protagonists to at least occasionally pass the Bechdel test, but it'd be interesting to see the two rich technocrats face to face.

So I think I would’ve been fine with her swaying Lena, just doing so with an actual struggle, i.e. working v. hard on finding compelling angles, seducing Lena (rather than waltzing in and just making her do stuff, ugh).

YES. It was just too, too easy. It took our villain of the week a *year* to get an equivalent amount of information on Supergirl, Alex, and the DEO - and he had the advantage of already knowing the key players! But Rhea magically knows the key phrases? Yeah, right. If Daxamites are telepaths, I'm sure Mon-El wouldn't make so many stupid mistakes.

And now that I think about it, sometimes I've said "the gods". Because I'm an atheist, and I studied Latin, so yeah. Even in English, it's not *that* bizarre a turn of phrase. (Not like Mon-El's "we're all about the gods", which kinda was.)
