Oh, god. Maurice Sendak has died.

It seems so much like all my favorite authors from childhood are dying now, like they decided to hang on until I grew up and then die off all at once in order to pummel me with visions of my own mortality.

Obviously that's not the case, but every new death seems like the end of literature.
