I've always really liked heights, so a lot of the new playgrounds wouldn't appeal to me. Although I liked swings a lot as a child, and I think standard, traditional swings are still around.
One of the coolest memories I have as a child is from some amusement park I was taken to when very young. It had netting you could crawl on that was spread above the park. So, you could look down at the people below while crawling from way up high. That was awesome. That was not a public park though, and must have needed to be carefully set up and maintained.
I didn't go to playgrounds much as a child. I didn't have access to them. But I liked some aspects of them in fourth and fifth grade when my Elementary School had one. (My Elementary School had plans for one or had one under construction while I was in the younger grades.)
