I don't know of any studies that prove what sling advocates say. I'm sure there *are* some, I just don't know of any.
I mentioned it not as a citation (sorry I wasn't clear - I should've been more careful) but just because that's a common reason I hear for using a sling - It's Better For The Baby.
The fact that it's just easier in every way is what convinced me.
