Ages and ages ago, I read a book which included the song "Pioneer Children Sang"
It stuck in my head, because it sounded like one of those songs no self-respecting adult ever lets get anywhere near their kids. (Unless they have a vendetta or something.) I mean, you just know that as soon as any kid gets their hands on it, they'll be going "and walked and walked and walked and walked and walked and walked and walked" until somebody dies.
A quick google confirmed that it's a popular Mormon song... but this just made my interest greater. How on earth does one *sing* it?
In a pique of boredom, I eventually found a site with the music.
And I'm struck by two things. One - wow, that's a nifty way they play the music out. Cool! Two - oh wow, these are what they're teaching their kids? They're heavy-duty, aren't they?
Well, to each their own. I believe I'll continue singing ballads to Ana. Learned a new one recently about a girl whose brothers killed her fiancee, lied about it, and then were drowned as they tried to escape being hanged for their crime. Good stuff!
