Why are they so expensive?

Tomorrow Finn is going back to the shelter to be fixed. I was supposed to get a ride over, but turns out she's, like, quadruple booked, so it's starting to look like I'll have to take the bus. Yeah, that's gonna be fun.

Well, the newest Attolia book finally came out, and I wanted to re-read the first four, so I guess this'll give me the time to do it. There and back again - twice. WITH A DOG.

I just started reading on the article on spiciness, and it made me think of curries. I recall how its taste comes from a varying degree of conflicting flavors and this actually explains how the heat isn't simply a matter of capsaicin. I've been wanting to figure these things out since I find capsaicin to be overrated and have been wanting to utilize more piperine and other volatile elements that people associate with that tingling kick. I honestly have been shelving the stuff for awhile though, but this made me rethink how to mingle my spices altogether. Much appreciated!
