There are 9 Rovers and 9 Fidos, and 63 Finns, but only one Moonpie. (Interestingly, there is also a Moops, which is what we sometimes call Moonie when we're being silly.)

Of course, last I checked, some 80% of the dogs in NYC are unlicensed, so who knows if this is totally representative? Maybe people who license their dogs follow different trends from people who don't.

Finn is higher than I would have expected at 63. I wonder if the Star Wars movie is the reason. Moonpie is the cutest name, like ever. Moops, too.

I have to concede, "Finn" sounds unique but simultaneously literary smug to make me see it being popular enough.

Given all the regulations that NYC seems to love to run rampant with, I'm surprised that so many are unlicensed, TBH. I would have figured rental agreements would have required the animals be licensed and properly given treatment, but I also know enough of the holdouts there to know that that doesn't always happen, just... surprised there's so many!

Hah, given how much money they put down to law enforcement, I'd think they would consider this as another avenue to earn yet more revenue for the city. Going to knock on wood they never catch on to this one, in that case!
