So, of course, I told Jenn about this dog the girls rescued. She was not terribly pleased at the thought, but what could we do, leave him to shiver in the cold?

And then she came home. Eva had washed the dog and cut the fur out of his eyes and called a potential owner (sadly, it wasn't hers and he is probably not returning to her), and he's looking pretty snazzy now. Still has some huge mats in his fur, but much better than before.

So Jenn comes into the living room, and there's the dog sitting on the back of the couch, and he lights up when he sees new people! And he wags his little tail! And he smiles, the way dogs do.

Jenn: WHY IS HE LOOKING AT ME? STOP LOOKING SO CUTE DOG!
Jenn: I don't understand what is even happening in my life.
Me: What's happening is you're getting a new dog.

We will put up signs about him, of course... but only *after* his appointment to have his nails trimmed and, hopefully, a second appointment for a teeth cleaning (the vet commented on those teeth when she checked for a microchip). I'm not returning him to anybody unwilling to pay for basic care. The state of his paws is absolutely shameful.

(I mean, they don't need to pay me. They can give me the money and I'll write out a check to Animal Haven, done. But they need to pay something, because there's a non-zero chance that he hasn't been lost that long, they just weren't caring for him.)
